After three buoyant editions, the CCBF Illustrators Survival Corner has established itself as the meeting point for emerging illustrators and picture book professionals who wish to enhance their career perspectives with technical and professional knowledge. Co-organised with Milan-based illustration school Mimaster in collaboration with the Bologna Children's Book Fair, the Corner has brought together 1,500 participants around over 45 events, which included masterclasses, portfolio reviews and workshops.
A few days, after the closure of CCBF, the Illustrators Survival Corner is continuing in a digital form, with a special event —Destination China! — a two-day online event focused on the best practices for non-Chinese illustrators to approach the Chinese publishing market.
On 27 November, a publisher, an agent and an artist from China will join you in a masterclass to talk about the publishing trends inthe local illustration market; they will also give you tips on how to present a portfolio or a book project and how to introduce yourself as a professional in China. ( This event will be streamed on the CCBF official facebook. )
As a complement to the masterclass, a series of online portfolio reviews will be held on 30 November. Four Chinese publishers will evaluate your artworks to provide you with professional suggestions and reply all your questions about Chinese picturebook and illustration market.
